Thisis one of the reasons that I have elect these two poems the idea ofthe countryside finds me face at home with these two poems. They areboth set in the open air, which creates an open atmosphere.Death of a Naturalist is the first poem I chose to write aboutbecause of the overall effectiveness of the poem. This poem has beenwritten in paragraph like stanzas, this sacrifices me the feel of makingthe poems look full of descriptions it excessively looks very exiting aspect at all the stanzas ar e crammed into one. As you look at thepoem you washstand specify effective use of vivid similes such asFrogspawn grew like clotted WaterFrogspawn that grows like clotted water shows you the fullness ofthe frogspawn it also shows us that the frogspawn is racing andcovering the kitty water very luxuriant it also gives me an impression thathe enjoys seeing the frogspawn growing and covering the pond as heenjoys collecting frogspawnI would fill jampotfuls of the jellied specsThis shows the enjoyment of a young child collecting and watchingsomething grow. We see the use of positive phrases There weredragon-flies,Spotted butterflies... The use of commas and short sentences give us an understanding of thechilds ... ...od jobs around the farm. The last lines in thepoem make us suppose about what has happened to his father.It is my father who keeps stumblingBehind me, and will not go off the effect this creates by saying hisfather is namby-pamby and falling away behind him tells us that the roleshave been reversed.After looking at these two poems many things are very similar in theway they have been written the language and form are surelanguage of farming by this I mean that the poems have got a use ofold farm language an describe things in a farming form. Heaney alsoleaves the reader with a final line to think about. By reading the twopoems Heaney now feels that it is time to break away from his past andhe also feels different from his family. I think this because he islooking back and writing about the past and he is competent to write aboutthe future.
